Matting is the most common way to
handle a mirror surface. There are several reasons for this. Firstly, in this
way, people can either create small matte inserts or completely cover the
entire surface with matte patterns. Secondly, such patterns look quite neutral
and harmonize well with the glossy surface. It also determines their
versatility. Thirdly, this method of processing is quite economical, which
makes such products widely available.
Among other methods of matting,
we can mention mechanical processing (sandblasted mirror) and painting
the mirror with translucent varnishes. The application of varnishes is a
simpler and cheaper process, but it does not guarantee a durable and reliable
result.
